About

Karen Workman

Originally from New Zealand, Karen has lived in the USA since 1993, beginning with Cleveland, Ohio, where she gained her Doctorate in Piano Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and then Los Angeles, CA.

Of her four children, three are currently working in the entertainment industry. Since beginning the journey with them, Karen has spent countless hours in her car, driving to jobs and auditions, and having all the classes and meetings with agents, managers, casting directors, directors, and SAG that you can imagine. She has also had the privilege of hosting an industry-based web series, where she has interviewed some of the top professionals in the industry.

Karen regularly speaks at industry events and her book Baby Steps is an invaluable resource for parents of aspiring child actors. While the children began as child actors, they are now young adults, working as actors, and in their various capacities as writers, directors, production assistants, assistant directors, and script supervisors. As their mum, Karen wholeheartedly supports her children’s dreams and talents, but her main objective is to nurture their health, well-being, and confidence as human beings, a passion which she extends to all clients.

Karen is uniquely positioned as a coach to parents of actors and brings her enthusiasm for the industry, her concerns as a parent, and her love for spending hours and hours on film and tv sets into everything she does.
